There’s nothing little
ones love more than creative play. Not only
do children’s games occupy tiny hands on
rainy days, they also occupy little minds
helping them grow big and tall in both imagination
and creativity. If you are looking for a
few easy and inexpensive ways to add some
fun to your day, here are a few of our favorite
do-it-yourself children’s games especially
for your tiny tot.
The Great Dino Hunt and Dig
Say goodbye to those grocery bags filled
with last year’s plastic Easter eggs and
put those dust bunny collectors to good
use. Fill plastic eggs with mini plastic
dinosaurs, which can be easily found at
dollar stores or the party aisle of your
local supercenter. Hide eggs outdoors for
springtime fun or indoors for the perfect
solution to the rainy day blues. Get creative
and hide eggs in the sandbox for a real
paleontologist dig.

Mom’s Favorite Tidy up Game
Can’t seem to get your messy Monet to clean
up his crayons? Here is a fun way to get
him moving. Call out a color and then start
the kitchen timer for one minute. Your child
will then have one minute to race to put
away all the toys of that color into his
toy box. Continue to call out colors and
reset the timer until the last toy is placed
into the bin. Reward your child for “beating
the clock” with a prize or an ice-cream
cone.
* Quick Change Tip:
Keep him interested in tidying up with this
quick spin on the Tidy up Game. Place separate
bins in his room for a quick toss/sorting
colors game. Cleaning and learning never
seemed so fun! (This variation works best
with smaller and softer toys that won’t
damage walls if he happens to miss the bin.)
